DESCRIPTION

Woody is a Thoroughbred gelding with a wonderful foundation and an exciting future as an event horse. After racing for several years, Woody transitioned into a pony horse role before moving to a farm where he enjoyed a more relaxed lifestyle, often carrying young riders around the fields bareback and in a halter.

Since arriving with us in the summer of 2025, Woody has begun his formal retraining for eventing, and he has proven to be a very exciting prospect. He successfully schooled multiple cross-country courses in Aiken in March and competed at Beginner Novice throughout the summer. He is now confidently ready to move up to Novice.

Woody is a lovely mover, offering soft, elastic gaits and an attractive way of going. He recently earned a dressage score of 30, demonstrating his potential in the dressage phase. Over fences, he is exceptionally scopey and athletic, showing the ability and potential to progress through the levels.

Under saddle, Woody is quiet, uncomplicated, and straightforward on the flat. He is a forward-thinking horse who enjoys his job and confidently takes his rider to the fences. For this reason, he is best suited to a confident, experienced rider rather than a beginner.

Beyond his talent, Woody’s personality is what truly makes him special. He is incredibly sweet and kind, with a genuine desire to please, and has quickly become a barn favorite. He is sound, has excellent feet, and has no vices. He is excellent for the veterinarian and farrier, ships exceptionally well, and stands quietly in the trailer. He also enjoys trail riding and turns out happily, both alone and with other horses.

Woody would make a wonderful partner for an experienced amateur or a capable junior looking for a talented, fun, and personable horse with the potential to continue up the eventing levels.
